Andrea Jácome (aka Dre) is a queer herbalist, writer, cultural organizer, educator, and descendant of farmers, weavers & hustlers from the coasts and mountains of so-called Colombia and Ecuador. Inspired by the legacy of her afro-indigenous teachers, she created Cocarosa Apothecary-- a plant medicine practice that seeks to commune with our past, present, and futures through the stories and healing that plants have to offer. Herbal Underground ~ Herbalist Collective

A herbalist collective, Herbal Underground works with growers, educators, and makers to protect the tradition, plants, integrity, and economic accessibility of nature's original medicine. Graduates of Arbor Vitae’s clinical herbalism program, Herbal Underground works to help localize the herbalism movement by connecting regional farmers to practicing herbalists and medicine makers, as well as providing education about regional plant life to anyone who will listen to their ranting. Through their work, they eventually hope to eventually support a NYC-based low-cost community clinic and serve as an educational resource specializing in native and invasive medicinals.

Karen M. Rose ~ Healer

Trained in Eastern and Western Herbal Medicine, Master Herbalist, Karen M. Rose created an outlet for her teachings and healing modalities with the opening of Brooklyn-based Sacred Vibes Healing and Sacred Vibes Apothecary in 2002. Karen is dedicated to empowering individuals to make informed decisions not only about their health, but their total lifestyle. She has developed authentic and enlightening materials as well as an extensive line of herbal products, all of which are available through the apothecary, apprenticeship classes and mentoring programs, such as her Get Off Your Knees platform, in which she weaves myth, fairytale, folklore and her own experiences to uniquely coach clients on how to become their spiritual, physical, and emotional best selves based on their innate talents and gifts.

Marisa Hall (she/they) ~ Herbalist

Marisa Hall is a writer, yoga teacher, and herbalist from Berkeley, California, based in Brooklyn. She takes a holistic approach to healing, offering modalities for sustainable inward exploration, balance, and accessing deeper, more sustainable joy. Her hope for anyone she works with is for them to walk away feeling grounded and empowered in their healing journey, with more capacity to reach further toward being fully embodied. Dr. Mullan centralizes Historical and Intergenerational Trauma, which she identifies as Ancestral Trauma, at the crux of decolonization work. She believes that it is essential to create dialogue to address how mental health is deeply affected by systemic inequities and the trauma of oppression, particularly the well-being of Queer Indigenous Black Brown People of Color (QIBPOC).

Anissa Amalia is an Indonesian-born queer non-binary multimedia artist, filmmaker, photographer and a certified Reiki practitioner currently based in Tonga Land (Los Angeles, CA). They were introduced to Reiki in 2019 to support their healing journey and find a deep connection to the practice. Later in the year they were guided to study Reiki and become a practitioner themself. As a practitioner, they are committed in providing accessible energy healing sessions for LGBTQ+ BIPOC folks.

Sundus Abdul Hadi ~ Multimedia Artist

Sundus Abdul Hadi is an Iraqi-Canadian multimedia artist. Born in the UAE, she was raised and educated in Montreal, where she earned a BFA in Studio Arts and Art History and a Masters in Media Studies. Sundus’s work is a sensitive reflection on trauma, struggle, and care, articulated through her artistic practice, writing and curation. Her most recent work is a self authored illustrated book titled “Shams” about trauma, transformation and healing. Complimenting her studio practice, Abdul Hadi curates exhibitions as artist-curator. She is the co-founder of The Medium, a multidisciplinary artist collective and culture point. Her work has been exhibited in Palestine, UAE, Canada, USA, France, UK and New Zealand. She has given workshops in Australia, Iraq and Kuwait, and has been a speaker at Nuqat, the Nobel Peace Prize Forum, Telfair Museum, and multiple universities in Canada and the US. Abdul Hadi is a two time recipient of the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Quebec (CALQ) Vivacite grant, and received the Makers Muse award from Kindle Project (2018). Her work is part of the Barjeel Art Foundation collection.
